Returning home to Stu Peppard Arena, the Mounties quickly got on the scoreboard with a pair of goals from Dexter Hannigan and Owen MacCarthy.

The Miners would tie the game with two goals of their own but the Mounties had an answer as Max Janousek and Coltan Tagg scored two more to take a 4-2 lead into the second period.

Early in the second Caden Pickell would make it 5-2 for the Mounties.

They would continue the scoring with four more goals in the period, outscoring the Miners five to two, holding a 9-4 lead after two periods.

MacCarthy would pick up two more goals, with Arley Wasson also scoring a goal and Janousek scoring his second of the game with 40 seconds left in the second period.

The Mounties would score another five in the third period, with the Miners scoring four times to make it a 14-8 final.

Hannigan scored twice and Janousek would snag his third of the night, both joining MacCarthy as the three Mounties who would post a hat trick.

Mason Rockley and Kayden Yeaman would also pick up goals in the win.

Following the victory, Head Coach Cody Hawkins discussed his team's approach to the weekend's second game.

“We expect it to be a physical game, we expect the boys to show up and, and show it again,” said Hawkins, “We're going to use our depth tomorrow. Some of the guys that were out of the lineup, we will throw them in and see if they can match the product that has been grown for today.”

The product was indeed matched as the Mounties had an impressive showing in the weekend's second game against the Saskatchewan SWAT.

After allowing the first goal 56 seconds into the game, Carter Linkletter would spot Kayden Yeaman, springing him on a breakaway, with Yeamen finding the back of the net, tying this game up 1-1.

The Mounties would jump out to a 6-3 lead after a period of play with more goals from Hannigan and Tagg, along with Janousek capping off a first-period hat trick.

In the second, the Mounties would go on a 4-2 run, making it a 10-5 game after two periods of play.

Janousek would add to his night by picking up two more goals, marking his fifth of the game, while Hannigan and Linketter scored the other two goals of the period.

The Mounties, led by MacCarthy and the Swat would trade four goals in the third for a 12-7 final.

Calgary would pick up their second straight victory, improving to 5-3 on the season and now sit tied for first in the league with the Edmonton Miners.

Hayden Wasson returned to the lineup over the weekend after missing the start of the season due to an injury., “I’m excited, It was unbelievable,” said Wasson,  “Having people have faith in you, Coming back off of seven and a half-week injury. It really shows Brotherhood.”

Wasson brings physical toughness and energy to the team, leading the team as a defender and an alternate captain.
