After a week off, the Calgary Mounties returned to action with three games in five nights against the Raiders, SWAT, and Miners.

On Wednesday night, the Raiders opened the scoring a minute into the game and maintained a 1-0 lead into the second period.

In the second period, the Mounties tied the game with a goal from Carter Cook, followed by two goals from Arly Wasson and Caden Pickell, holding a 3-2 heading into the third.

The Raiders would come out strong scoring three times and locking down to allow zero goals in the third for a 5-3 win over the Mounties.

In the second match of the three-game week, the Mounties faced off against the Saskatchewan SWAT for the final time of the season.

The Mounties found themselves leading 5-0 after the first period, as the team's depth shinned as five players would find the back on the net.

Depth has been a key to the Mounties' success this season, a factor that Head Coach Hawkins has been pushing this season.

Over the last two periods, the two teams scored six goals, Hayden Moffat scored in the second period and Kayden Yeaman followed with another goal seven seconds later.

The SWAT would score a trio of goals from Haakon Steen, standing as the only three goals of the night for Saskatchewan.

Dexter Hannigan would score his second of the game to start the third period in the 8-3 win.

“Filled their roles, I think they all did a good job of that. That was kind of the echo before the game, a lot of guys in positions that they might not be in typically, like Bower and Dievert ” Said Head Coach Cody Hawkins, “I thought they did a good job at getting those extra possessions, working for the guys next to them and bringing that grittiness to the offence that we might have been lacking last game.”

In the week's final match, the Mounties welcomed the Edmonton Miners for the last home game of the season.

Out of the gate, we were in for a high-scoring game between the first and second-place teams.

The Mounties tied it up at 2-2 after quickly falling behind 2-0 to the Miners, with goals from Yeaman and Max Janousek.

After the Miners took a 3-2 lead, the Mounties fell into some penalty trouble, Carter Linkletter was sent off two minutes for slashing, along with a five-minute call and a 10-minute misconduct for high sticking.

The Miners took advantage scoring three on the powerplay, while Janousek was able to score a shorthanded goal for the Mounties keeping it a 6-3 game.

Following the end of the Miners man advantage, the Mounties fought back with goals from Dexter Hannigan and Caiden Moon, making it a 6-5.

Miners would once again score, making it 7-5 late in the first period, before the Mounties would capitalize on an empty net.

With less than 30 seconds left to play, the Miners held the position with six players in the Mounties' end. Chase Misek made a save and quickly found Jacob Berg, who broke out to score on the empty net as the clock wound down to zero, making it a one-goal game.

The scoring continued into the second period with both sides scoring three each, Kayden Yeaman scored his second on the game, while Moon completed the hat trick by scoring two more goals.

The Miners were once again holding onto a one-goal lead heading into another period of play, 10-9.

Once again, Moon was on the board picking up his fourth goal of the night, and Janousek scored the team's second hat trick, tying the game 11-11, with Moon picking up an assist for his fifth point of the night.

Unfortunately, despite the Mounties' push, Calgary fell 12-11 to Edmonton, as the Miners scored once more with three minutes left to play.

Player Spotlight: #4 - Carter Linkletter

This past week, the Mounties also announced that Carter Linkletter is now an assistant captain. The 19-year-old defender has five goals and five assists in 11 games played this season.

“I’m very grateful to Coach Hawk for giving me the opportunity,” said Linkletter on getting the A,  “But nothing changes, the A doesn’t change anything, I'm going to keep doing what I’ve been doing and lead my brothers to our end goal.  It’s a new group we are working out the bumps but it’s a young group and I am excited to see what comes in the future.”
